To mark World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Day on 30th January 2024, Unlimit Health held the Shine a Light poster competition for a second year. The competition aims to raise awareness of NTDs among children and young people. The winners were invited to an event at the Houses of Parliament where they had the opportunity to listen to speeches by people affected, and meet organisations working to eliminate these diseases.

The All-party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and the UK Coalition Against NTDs organised an event at the House of Lords under the theme ‘Unite, Act, Eliminate’ to commemorate World NTD Day on 30 January.

Following the recent European Medicines Agency (EMA) positive scientific opinion for arpraziquantel to treat schistosomiasis in preschool-aged children, Unlimit Health reaffirms its commitment to supporting paediatric treatment against this parasitic infection.
Today, the Pediatric Praziquantel Consortium announced that the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) adopted a positive scientific opinion for arpraziquantel to treat the neglected tropical disease, schistosomiasis, in preschool-aged children (3 months to 6 years of age).
The neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) funding landscape is evolving rapidly, requiring a radically different funding architecture, as well as additional investment, to effectively impact universal health coverage and reach the last mile in efforts to end parasitic diseases.
