Dr Sophie Welsche
Technical Advisor: Epidemiology

Sophie obtained her MSc in Environmental Sciences at ETH Zurich and recently completed her PhD in Epidemiology at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. She was responsible for two randomized controlled trials assessing improved treatment options against soil-transmitted helminths, with a focus on Trichuris trichiura. Her work at Swiss TPH allowed her to gain extensive experience in the field and to collaborate closely with local research teams and communities. Sophie has a strong interest in the control of Neglected Tropical Diseases and believes in the importance to achieve it in a sustainable and locally driven way.

Sophie loves music, strives to continuously learn new languages and enjoys playing the violin.
