Girls’ drawings capture what health means to them

5 April 2023

For World Health Day, we invited children who took part in our Shine a Light poster competition earlier this year to use their creative skills to represent their thoughts around health.

Sahara, one of the winners of the competition, created this drawing:

“Poor health can take away a child’s dreams because it can make them incapable of pursuing them and it can limit their ability to keep their dreams. And also, how they see the world will change in their eyes”, said Sahara.

Holly, whose poster was shortlisted for the competition, also shared her thoughts with us in this drawing:

“I drew a picture with hands on top of each other because lots of people are helping to end parasitic disease”, said Holly. In her opinion, it is illness that gets in the way of children fulfilling their dreams.

Holly explained, “Because they are ill, they aren’t able to do stuff and get excluded from things. Sometimes they are not able to go to school. This means they aren’t educated to do the jobs they dream of, like being a nurse.”

Thank you to Sahara and Holly for sharing what health means to them, and for their inspiring drawings – which actually reflect the core purpose of our new brand very well!
